Captain ~ Michael Wyer (British)
Michael was born in the UK but grew up on the Greek Island of Corfu. His yachting career began working for a sail-boat charter company during school vacations - and has continued more or less unbroken since then.
He has attended Warsash and Tyneside maritime colleges in the UK and holds an MCA class IV master of yachts up to 3000grt. He has been with the current owner for four years starting as build captain for the current vessel M.Y. In previous years he has served as Chief officer on a variety of large charter yachts including M.Y. Esmeralda and M.Y. Illusion. Mike is fluent in Greek and his hobbies include sailboat cruising, especially among the Greek Isles. He also enjoys Scuba diving and is a qualified Padi Divemaster.
First Officer ~ Shepherd (Shep) Dobson (Australian)
Shep is a qualified master of yachts up to 200gt. He has worked in the yachting industry for over many years and has served aboard various types of vessel all over the world. With his previous experience ranging from military marine service to dive-instructor, combined with a good knowledge of cruising areas and yacht operations, Shep is definitely a great asset to the Gladius team! Shep's hobbies include Scuba diving, Jet-skiing and cricket.
Chief Engineer ~ Michael Norton (British)
Michael holds a UK merchant navy engineering certificate as well as an MCA Y2 qualification. He first went to sea as a marine technician with the RAF but subsequently and over the past twenty years he has been involved with various motor yachts including substantial time served as captain of vessels less than 24metres. He has served on board Gladius for four years since before her launch. Mike's enjoys the occasional round of golf when time permits and is also interested in the sport of Judo.
Chef ~ Daniel Hall (UK - Scottish)
With over 20 years in the hospitality industry Dan has built up a wealth of experience. Stints in California, South America, Australia and Spain, as well as time served on board the well known 60m charter yacht, Esmeralda, have given him an extensive knowledge of different cultures and cuisines.
At the age of 19 Dan was the youngest Head chef of a Michelin starred restaurant in Britain. He is currently a Master Chef of Great Britain and has received numerous awards throughout his career including young Scottish Chef of the year.
Chief Stewardess ~ Noemi Neuman (Hungarian)
Noemi is another newcomer to the Gladius team but she brings a wealth of experience from both the hospitality industry as well as her time on other yachts such as M/Y Phoenix, M/Y Istros and M/Y Celebration. Noemi has never been able to shake the travel bug. She enjoys seeing new places and especially being on the water.
2nd Stewardess ~ Daisy Loosmore (Australia)
2010 will be Daisy's first season on board. She left her home Australia to travel and soon found herself on board her first yacht. She he has since then accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge which, combined with her previously hospitality background makes her a valuable addition to the Gladius team. Daisy's other interests include Surfing, touch football and bar-tending.
Bosun/Deck-hand ~ Sean Rysenbry (New Zealand)
Sean grew up in New Zealand and has been travelling and working within the yachting and leisure industry for a number of years. His previous yachts including M.Y. Santa Anna, S/Y Lionheart and the 50m classis, R/S Eden. Sean's hobbies include sailing, wake-boarding and waterskiing.
